Muhindo Rosette

is a 5-year-old girl in Nursery School who hopes to become a nurse.

Rosette stays with her aging grandmother with many other children at Kitongo Village. Her father became a drug addict and struggles with mental illness. Her mother went away to look for work, thereby leaving all the responsibility of caring for her children with the grandmother who has no job. She works on her small garden by growing food crops for home consumption. When Kassanda Seed School started, Rosette decided to walk the 10 kms. from Kitongo to Jemba to study. Kassanda Children’s Aid has been providing assistance to her and our partners, John and Stacy DeVries, helped build them house. She is very active in class but she burdened with the long journey that she travels to and from school every day. Yet she wants to become a nurse.
